Project Hephaestus is named after the Greek god Hephaestus,
who is known as a builder and smith. Taking inspiration from its
namesake, this project is a game that will allow the player to
harvest a myriad of resources from a procedurally generated world
and craft items of various complexity. This game will include physics
simulation for the crafted items, and the properties of the items
themselves will be determined by the properties of the materials used
to craft them.
While this game may seem silly and trivial, the ultimate goal is to
use it to teach chemistry, physics, and both mechanical and electrical
engineering concepts. Later milestones for the project include making
the entire world interactive and simulated, not just the materials
gathered and items created by the player.
